ABOUT US
Outdoor Medals – Every medal tells a story
At Outdoor Medals, we believe that every step, every story, and every achievement matters. Whether you’re walking or cycling anywhere in Europe; it’s your adventure. And now, you can make that milestone truly personal with a medal that becomes a lasting memory.
Our medals are more than just metal. They are crafted with care, attention to detail, and true craftsmanship. Each one is a symbol of your journey; at your pace, with your story. Every design is unique, inspired by the landscape, the route, and the country behind it.
Our story
Vision
At Outdoor Medals, we believe that every Camino adventure, big or small, deserves recognition. We understand the immense dedication, perseverance, and passion it takes to conquer long-distance routes and push past personal limits.
Our mission is to honor these remarkable achievements with a carefully designed Camino Medal – a lasting symbol of the physical and mental resilience of every pilgrim. Together with walkers and cyclists, we aim not only to celebrate unforgettable experiences, but also to contribute to the advancement of cancer research.
Camino Francès; The Netherlands to Santiago de Compostela (2.500 km / 1.550 miles)
Outdoor Medals was born out of Leroy and Fabienne’s shared passion for the outdoors and their belief in the transformative power of adventure.
In 2023, Leroy set off on his bike and completed the entire route from the Netherlands to Santiago de Compostela. A journey of 2,500 kilometers with a special purpose: raising money for cancer research. His motivation was deeply personal, as both his parents-in-law had been affected by a rare form of cancer.
On June 3rd, 2023, Leroy reached the cathedral of Santiago after a journey of just under five weeks. He knows better than anyone how fulfilling such an adventure can be and how meaningful it is to commemorate it.

Camino Portugués; Porto to Santiago de Compostela
In 2024 we said goodbye to our parents/ parents-in-law, who both passed away from rare forms of cancer. After careful discussion, they chose to leave together through duo euthanasia. It was an intense, heart-rending year in which we suddenly lost two cherished people who were central to our lives.
Grief is not a straight path; it is a process that calls for time, space, and movement. That is why, in May 2025, we decided to walk the Camino Portugués together from Porto to Santiago de Compostela along the coastal route. Our goal was two-fold: to raise funds for research into the cancers that took them, and to pause, remember, and give our sorrow a place. We called the journey “Standing Still in Motion.”
It became a remarkable and emotional pilgrimage measured in kilometers, but defined by connection, remembrance, and healing.

Antoni van Leeuwenhoek
Through their entrepreneurial spirit and love for the outdoors, Leroy and Fabienne established Outdoor Medals, providing a platform to honor fellow adventurers and contribute to advancing cancer research for the cancers Fabienne’s parents were battling. Outdoor Medals will donate 5 euros per medal sold to the AVL Foundation, specifically to two departments: one dedicated to rare breast cancer research and the other focused on advancing knowledge about Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (NEC). By supporting Outdoor Medals, you are not only celebrating your own adventurous spirit but also contributing to a meaningful cause that aims to improve the lives of those affected by these challenging illnesses. Together, let’s make a difference! For more information, please visit the AVL Foundation website: More information AVL Foundation
